The Photographer

Mike Lamm began his photographic career as a full-time photojournalist for the Celina Daily Standard newspaper, collecting numerous UPI and AP awards during his 16 year tenure there.

After starting the area's first one-hour mini-lab, he attended the renowned

Winona School of Photography in Chicago and turned his talents to portraiture as owner/operator of Studio E (film) and Mike Lamm Images (digital).

During his 15 years as a studio portrait artist, Mike photographed thousands of high school seniors, hundreds of families and children, and dozens of weddings in and around the area.

Mike is recognized as a Master Photographer by the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and

is a lifetime member of the prestigious American Society of Photographers (ASP).

Mike's images have been displayed in both the Fort Wayne and Dayton Museums of Art, and have appeared in Professional Photographer, Ohio, and Farm Journal magazines, as well as the monthly publication of The Isaac Walton League.

His work has been featured on the website of Master Printmaker Jonathan Penney, the ASP Traveling Exhibit to Japan, the PPA Loan Collection and the covers of the Wright State University literary publication, The Fogdog Review.

In 2015, Mike's fine art photography filled all three galleries at Arts Place, Portland, Ind., and in 2018, his macro nature images were selected by Mercer Health to decorate the new facilities at Coldwater Community Hospital.

Mike has retired from the studio portrait business but continues to photograph for his own pleasure and to feed his visual mind.

The Images

This site was created to showcase the large selection of fine art macro and close-up nature photography available from Mike Lamm Images, and to make those images readily available to both businesses and the public alike.

The images on this site were captured from such far-flung locales as Biltmore House in Asheville, North Carolina, and Oregon’s Pacific coast, as well as far more regional locations like my own backyard and northwest Ohio. They were taken with the hope of uplifting the human spirit and conveying the sense of tranquility that can be derived by closely examining the natural world with a critical, artistic eye.

The six galleries of the site allow you to peruse my creatively captured close-up photographs of nature, organized in the general categories of: Flowers, Plants, Trees/Rocks, Water and Abstract/Graphic Art, as well as a final gallery titled Art Gallery Prints.

The Flower gallery concentrates on the bold, vivid colors of flowers, as well as their muted tones and intricate delicacy, while the Plants gallery offers a more subdued perspective and focuses more on form, lines and texture. The variations of design found in trees and bark, as well as the fascinating features of rocks (and lichen) are the subjects in the Trees/Rocks gallery, while the Water gallery highlights the fluidity of our most precious natural resource.

The Abstract/Graphic Art gallery contains images from all four of the above categories, but these images have been manipulated to transcend the boundaries of traditional nature photography. The intent is to enter the realms of abstract design and graphic art by bringing attention to the texture, symmetry, and patterns found in the natural world. And of course, it's all about the light.

Finally, the Art Gallery Prints gallery displays a selection of images, both black and white as well as color, that are finished with a matte and accent border to illustrate an optional finishing technique for those who like a more formal presentation.

Images can be ordered in a wide variety of sizes. There are several frameless presentation/finish options available, including aluminum, acrylic, and canvas gallery wraps.
